Hi,
did anyone try the new loaded CD-type nylgut strings from Aquila ?

I'm quite interested because it could potentially solve the longstanding problem of the D-course (wound is usually too bright and plain too
dull....)

I've tried it. Personally, I think that the plain nylgut still works better.

Hi Brian, even for the D strings?

Yes, that was my opinion. But of course, your results might vary with a different oud.

Thanks Brian for your input !
Which gauge of plain nylgut do you recommend for the D course ?
Even with low (~ 3 kg) tension I find the result rather dull as the string is quite thick already, do you recommend going to thinner strings, i.e.
lower tension ? Or maybe it's just a question of taste...
thanks,
Dan
