This is my first post. Attached is a photo from the inside of my grandfather's oud. I am trying to find out who this person/maker is and what the
words say. Of course, ultimately would like as much detail on this oud as possible. My family is from Syria and my grandfather used to play this as
well as a smaller oud (not posted). He played this as early as the 1950's, so am guessing it's at least that old. It is in need of some repair,
which we'd like to do at some point as well. any and all info would really be appreciated! Thank you! andrew

Label:
"Work of Nae'im George Dallal, June 1948".
The luthier was active in Aleppo, Syria in the 1930's-1960's, more known from repair jobs rather than from ouds of his own.
It seems a lovely oud that worth restoration by loving hands.
Good luck

thank you! Any place else I can go to learn more about this maker and this oud?

Nothing much really in Arabic. All we know is from what our friends from Aleppo have told us.
I hope we have some locals here who may help with more serious info about Dallal and other Aleppian makers.
Yours indeed

I just love the look of this oud. I am partial to Syrian ouds having 2, but this one looks so so nice. Really like the edge perfling pattern and the
bowl flower inlays . The main rosette is so intricate. Really nice Oud.
Is that black tape stuck on the front of the soundboard, maybe from a piezo mic?
Hopefully someone can help you with more info. Would love to hear it one day!
