Has there ever been something like a "Real Book" for oriental tunes like there is for jazz standards?Jason - 10-2-2017 at 03:04 PM
There have been several collections published but there isn't really an equivalent standard book as far as I'm aware. John Erlich - 10-3-2017 at 11:17 AM
I ordered both of them immediately. Thanks for the links, John!
You're welcome! Also, do try to learn some of the simpler songs by ear, as well. It's good practice. This album has some wonderful songs that are
simple and repetitive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qku_FdWLr44John Erlich - 10-16-2017 at 04:27 PM
I realize that I was only thinking of Arabic music and Arabic scores of Ottoman music. There is also a "Turkish Real Book" out there. It's 3,400+
sheets of Turkish music scores, generally organized by makam. I saw it today on Scribd - https://www.scribd.com/document/196348597/The-Real-Turkish-Book

Not very useful for me, John. For unknown reasons Scribd never accepted my german paypal account. Thanks for the link anyway!
