my friend,
your dowel is not nearly long enough. that's furniture grade stuff you are using. it should be at least 3 inches in the neck and in the block. Also
the neck block looks like plywood... maybe its best to use solid spruce for this.
I am afraid for the longevity of your instrument.

Hello friend !
You are very enthusiastic, thats good !
But keep in mind that it is not the number of instruments you build, but the quality of the instruments that makes you a good luthier.
Just take more time, this is no race, be patient. This forum also is dead so here's nothing to win.
Blessings

Interesting pictures of these old ouds! I also find it fascinating that in the first picture it looks like a chess board game to the right. Wow, I
didn't know chess has been around so long...
*Picture one has strings to bridge with F cuts in soundboard, and what looks like two very small openings(smaller than i have seen before)
*picture two has strings to base of oud(iraqi style), and one main soundboard hole.
*picture three(ceramic plate) has strings to base and two upper small soundholes as well. Weird placements.
Which model will you choose? Exciting to see what you make, and as always,
please upload a sound sample as I'd Love to hear how you have competed it.
