I'd like to share with you a long life-saving project, of an endangered oud !
The oud was in such a poor condition (time, neglect....etc.), but LUCKILY enough, the bowl and soundboard remained in a relatively great conserved
condition !
Usta Mahmoud Ali was quite well known back in those old days, and amazingly he was one of the very few people back then who studied acoustics (he got
a degree from France around 1930's). He was also in charge of the music education system in Cairo music academies. With an affirmative strong
personality, he mentored some of today's living musicians and luthiers (one of which is Usta Abdo Daghir).
Despite a petit-sized bowl, the oud sounds like a giant ! with an old matured Egyptian sound quality ouds.
that sounds and looks so amazing. What a great project turnout.
I just love thes ouds you are showing us with such bellowing reverb-like sounds,
really nice ouds! Thanx.Oud.Proff - 2-27-2018 at 12:20 PM

Thanks a lot Dave. Yes, I couldn't wait to record something on it even before the strings got to settle Oud.Proff - 2-27-2018 at 12:21 PM
