When buying oud strings, I was a bit surprised to only find one brand that sells Arabic tuning sets with plain dd strings (Thomastik). Other brands
have custom options but the default is wound. So I'm curious to know if more people use plain dd than the market would suggest. Do you use plain or
wound dd? If both, choose the one you use more often.

Pyramid sells standard sets with a plain dd course. It's only available in the 10-string sets, though, so you'd need to buy the low string separately
for most ouds.
#650 and #652 both are available with a plain dd course.
plain d works nicely if the oud is at least 61cm scale, shorter than that nylon generally doesn't work very well. PVF is a possibility, though only
Savarez has PVF heavy enough to really do the job.
