There are a handful of us in the San Francisco Bay Area who teach. I think that's the closest. The Sacramento ME/NA music community is much smaller,
and I don't think any of them teach. I don't know any serious ME/NA musicians in the Reno area (though they might exist!). U2U me if you are
interested in more info about Bay Area folks.
Have you tried finding and asking among NV Arab, Muslim, Armenian etc. communities? According to the Census data I found on-line, Reno is about .2%
Arab, so I guess chances of some un-sung emigre oud master living there quietly is pretty small, but it couldn't hurt to ask around.
