Hi all,
I'm learning about the different maqamat and would like to know of any songs you like that feature the maqam Saba. Thanks!

Don't know that I "love" it, but "Debna 3a Ghyabak" by George Wassouf is a very good song to practice playing in Maqam Saba.

This muwwashah, "Anshadi Ya Saba," in 10/8 sama'i meter is also nice:

I don't know the composer of this Saba sama'i, but I think it may be from Tunisia.

I would thread lightly John... In certain parts saying you don't love something by Georges Wassouf "sultan al tarab" especially the young voice is blasphemous :D :))

Saba with E natural? It's like the bouzouki Saba. That makes me want to share this song. It's a very nice Greek "Saba"-piece:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rk9-pOReAs
and as we are there already https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXJQmTSptCc
ok, one more Greek containing lots of Saba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHwMTm6VJu8&t=0s

Back to Arab Saba
Khalas Mosafer is a nice mixed Saba/Bayati piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXSK4WV31kw

And of course, Turkish Saba may not miss. Saba Oyun Havası: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRPC9MjC1G4
Peşrev by Tanburi Büyük Osman Bey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slwl5EeBP_I
Saba Saz Semaisi by Aziz Dede: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYaagGc1LGs

It's remarkable how differently Saba sounds in different cultural contexts, not only through intonation, but also Seyir.

Now that I was playing "Anshadi Ya Saba" I realised it's Maqam Bastanikar. Very nice piece.
I don't know about your transcription's reference recording, but in this version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dG0psYeiHM the dawr is played with Awj Ara using A# and F half raised. Didn't find this set of notes in Arabic music often.

Good call. I should have looked further on in the piece...
