I live in Istanbul and would like to buy an oud. I would like to buy a Turkish oud that is a decent instrument and not just a low quality or touristy
piece.
I already play saz and guitar and would like to learn the oud to a reasonable level.
Please can anyone recommend a shop/maker or brand in Istanbul, I know Faruk Turunz is an excellent maker, but as an English teacher in Istanbul I am
earning about $1000 per month. Is it really not worth buying anything cheaper, or should I save up for a reduced Turunz oud, or can a cheaper brand
be quite good?
Any advice would be gratefully received

I have a Faruk Turunz Arabic custom single. I have had it four about 4 years now. It is absolutely Amazing! I’ve also heard good things about his
reduced priced Ouds. If possible I would definitely recommend getting an Oud from Faruk Turunz. It may cost more but in my opinion it’s worth every
penny.
