If you’re looking to upgrade to a higher quality oud, or if you’re passionate about collecting high quality ouds in general, then you don’t want
to miss out on the chance to acquire this beautiful instrument!
After a lot of thinking and careful consideration, I have decided to pass on my 2009 Fathi Amin Egyptian oud to another home. It was not an easy
decision to make because I had made several significant recordings with this instrument as well as it being an integral part of my journey as an oud
player, but I have gotten used to playing my other 7-course floating bridge oud, and I am looking to get a 7-course fixed bridge oud, so I won’t be
needing to keep the Fathi Amin oud.
If I were a collector I would never sell it, but seeing as I would have two other ouds that I would play more, I would like to pass this one to
someone who would play it. That's what instruments are made for. So as hard as it will be to part with it, I wish to share the love!
Fathi Amin passed away in 2013 so these ouds are no longer being made. Even though his son Sayed continues the family tradition, the son’s ouds are
simply not the same as the father’s.
As you can see in the photos, this oud is made with breathtaking craftsmanship and design, including gorgeous seashell inlays around the three
rosettes, as well as all over the borders of the bowl and the neck. I tried to capture it as best I can but you’ll really have to see it in person
to see how the colors change with the light reflection.
The oud is fitted with a Schatten HFN-S2 pickup, paired with a Fishman Aura Preamp, known for its onboard Imaging systems. Really high-quality
electronics that allow you to plug into any amp or PA system and amplify the oud’s sound without having to worry about feedback issues.
The oud also comes with a hardshell fiberglass Sukkar case which has up to three latches that can be locked by key, to keep the oud well protected. It
even acts as a stand for the oud when it is opened!
You can get an idea of what the oud sounds like by listening to some of the recordings that I made with it at the links below:

I realy liked the instrument and was goingto pay the seller the amounthe he is going to ask , but I got dissappointed when I sent Fathi Amin's son
Saed who is also a luthier some of the oud's photos. Unfortunately he told me that oud is not made by his father , but it's a replica.

Dear Sumerian1979,
This is an original Fathi Amin oud, and not a replica. I bought it from Marco music store in Mohamed Ali street in Cairo in 2012. If you go to Mohamed
Ali street and ask about Marco music store they will tell you that it is a reputable and well known music store that has been there for many years.
The owner of the store used to play violin with Om Kalthoum's orchestra, as well as with many other Egyptian legends. His two sons are both instrument
makers, one of whom makes his own line of ouds which are very nice in design and sound. The oud maker's name is Mohamed Abd El Rahman.
But other than the ouds that Mohamed Abd El Rahman makes, they also sell ouds by other luthiers, including the one by Fathi Amin that I bought from
them in 2012. I hope that by now you can believe that this oud was indeed made by Fathi Amin and is not a replica. There is simply no way that a
reputable music store who have their own line of musical instruments would sell replica ouds and claim that they are original.
I can only take your word that you sent some of the photos to Fathi Amin's son. If it is indeed Fathi Amin's son who looked at some of the photos that
he would be mistaken by believing the oud to be a replica. After all, it was his father who made it and not him. Look at the photo I took of the label
inside the oud's bowl and you will see that it is authentic. Maybe Fathi Amin's son didn't see that photo of the label.
Please also watch the video below in which I performed a concert last month with this oud. Listen to how it sounds and you will see that it is an
original Fathi Amin oud:

Please also read Brian Prunka's message above in which he mentioned that he played this oud himself and that he found it to be an excellent
instrument.
I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone that this oud has been sold, and that its new owner is very happy with it.
Thank you all very much
