Muhammed Fathel Oud made in 1974. It is an original Oud. I would like to sell it. The instrument is in a very good condition. For further questions,
please contact me.
Any opinions on this forum as to the authenticity of this instrument ?
Any help is appreciated.
It's a real Fadel with all the authentic attributes and dimensions. The varnish is probably newer, which is not unusual. Fingerboard may have been
replaced when he often used bakelite. The soundboard is made of lebanon cedar with its typical grain (some in pine). Many of his ouds have many worked
on and hence problems with dating with changed paperwork (several sons). Brian Prunka - 11-5-2021 at 12:02 PM
Ronny, good to hear from you!
I agree with Ronny, this is authentic, fingerboard appears to be replaced (which may be an improvement). Walidk - 11-13-2021 at 03:37 PM
Thank you all for replying to my question and shedding some light on the instrument. I was contemplating buying this oud. However there seems to be a
bit of confusion and concern regarding which oud is being sold. Mr Saife sent me a video of a different oud made in 1977 that he's selling and not the
one pictured in this thread. Just wanted to make other members aware of it.
Maybe Mr Saife can update his post for the sake of clarity. Ronny Andersson - 11-14-2021 at 01:49 AM
There is a Fadel for sale in Sweden. I know nothing about the seller but searched in pure coincidence for oud. This has the original label which was
later renewed apparently after some form of repair.
