Hi guys,
A friend of mine who plays amazing clarinet happened give me an old cassette of some of Udi Kadri Sencalar's recordings (originally from LP).
I put them on my PC - here is a great sample. He's becoming one of my very favorites very quickly. In my opinion he was a perfect combination of
feeling and thoughtfulness. I love his playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy,

Hi,
Here's one more. One of the most appealing things about his playing is how he moves from one makam to the other without being too obvious about it.
His movements are effortless. He was really something, I hope to find more of his recordings. There is a lot to learn from him.

Mav
Usta Kadri is TOTALLY amazing!!!
Thank You so much. I think he is their with the tops who include Udi Hrant, Cinucen Tanrikorur, Munir Beken, Udi Nevres Bey, Yorgho Bacanos, etc.
And some of the newer masters of Yordal Tokcan, Richard Hagopian, Necati Celik, Haig Manoukian, etc.
It is obvious he is master of Turkish makam and taksim. I think everyone who is playing the Turkish oud can learn a lot from this master. I am
certainly in that croud.
I have a very cheap Turkish tourist oud but my teacher is totally amazing.
Thanks a lot mav and please if you can tell us some more about this master.
Thank You
David

Hi guys,
Thanks for the great responses, it feels good to know that you all love his playing too. I first heard about Udi Kadri Sencalar during a visit to
Dincer Dalkilic's house. When he mentioned him I didn't recognize the name, and now, by chance, another friend here in NY lent me a cassette with
some of his recordings. I believe he lived from 1912-1989, but I'm not sure. Don't know much about him. Hopefully Dincer or someone else who knows
more (and probably knew him personally) could give us more of a bio for him. Here is one more track for you, another Huzzam taksim...

You can't right click, hit "save target as", and have it store as an mp3? It is working for me.

Thanks Mavro. I had never heard the Hicazkar taksim from Sencalar before. Beautiful touch.

p.s. Did you make it to that summit in Greece? Please share the experience if you did.
