Hello all. I'd like to share the link for a special 1946 George Hanna Nahat oud on auction via Ebay.
1946 George Hanna Nahat Ebay auction
The face is adorned with mosaics, some of which have been sanded through from a pervious amateur repair. The bowl is walnut and features beautiful
mosaics as well.
One of the more striking features of this instrument is the mother of pearl fingerboard, which is 100% original. Mother of pearl is arguably one of
the best surfaces to play off of if done right.
This instrument is for the player and collector alike.
Nahat is an oud making dynasty starting in the late 1800's all the way up to the 1970s. They are regarded as the greatest oud makers in history also
having established many of the parameters still used today. These instruments are the most sought after ouds in the world.
This particular instrument was made by George Hanna Nahat, son of Hanna Nahat. He was born in the late 1800's and died in 1962. His ouds were known to
be more ornate than other Nahats. Also it's important to note that Farid Al Atrash played one of these ornate ouds made circa 1935.
Pickup required for international bidders.
