Faruk Türünz Grand Concert Oud - For Sale

Hi Guys,

Those of you who have been on these forums for a very long time will remember in February 2006 when I took delivery of my, then new, Faruk Türünz Grand Concert Oud.
As I am now offering this beautiful instrument for sale, I thought I would provide a link to the original post discussing the oud, back then.

All of the photos from that time, together with some recent outdoor photos can be seen at:

As you can see from the photos, the oud and hard case are ‘as new’, without a scuff or scratch.
The bowl and neck wood is Pommele (a rare kind of Mahogany) that was recommended by Faruk to help achieve the sound I wanted.

I am selling because the last time I played the instrument seriously was in 2011. The majority of my musical gigging since then has been on guitar or bass. The intention always was that I would resume oud playing when time permitted, but sadly that hasn’t eventuated.

For the past 13 years it, and three other lesser ouds, have been detuned and carefully stored in a moisture and temperature stable area in my home. The instrument should be played regularly by someone who has the time and commitment and sadly that’s no longer me.

The instrument comes with two unopened sets of Aquila Nylgut Arabic strings. It was designed by Faruk to be best in Arabic tuning, but I have at times, used it with Turkish tuning (and string tensions) and, to my ear, it sounded just as good.

I do not have any properly recorded audio, but I recorded a video of Joe Tawadros playing it in 2007 when he and I got together for coffee and a chat. The audio, and video quality is very poor due to the technology of the day and the location of the recording.

Please contact me if you think you may be interested in purchasing this oud.

Hi. What is the price that are you asking for

Greg - 9-22-2024 at 03:49 AM

I believe the instrument is worth at least US$2,500, but I will seriously consider offers lower than that, provided they are from someone who is serious about buying.

Regards,

Greg
