Many of you have asked about my oud transcriptions of European classical music. All of them are for oud plus string ensemble, and are acerbically
"21st century" in harmony - since I don't live in Mozart's time, nor do I have any desire to compete with him, Bach, etc. One piece, "Ghazal of the
Morning", based on a theme from my symphonic piece "The Palace of Memory"(premiered by the Yale Symphony Orchestra last year)will be studio-recorded
this summer and sent to Yo-Yo Ma for the "Silkroad Project". Another, based on a Renaissence dance tune, will be recorded as well. However, I have a
number of solo oud practise excercises based on European sources (Bach, etc.). I would be happy to copy them neatly and send copies to whoever would
like to try them. I'll also send CD's of "Ghazal" as well, when the recording is done. Just send your mailing address to MRBAYNE@sbcglobal.net and
I'll send some of the practise manuscript pages to you. Peace be with you.
