I know exactly what you mean bu playing it first, but no, this one i bought directly from Egypt, (i live in NY) but my friend played it their and said
it was built well, that was my main concern, and he said it dosent hurt your leg when you play on it

Unless the oud is incredibly heavy, I am guessing that has more to do with his technique than with the oud.
