Donation

Would anyone be willing to help a poor 19 year old teenager?

I have no money what so ever. My parents are unwilling, and as most of you know, my oud has passed away.

Would anyone be willing to donate an old or simi-damaged but working Oud to me?

I cannot

The reason I ask is, I am disabled and unable to work. I cannot come up with any income at all.:(

Work.

You will be able to earn money by working.
It is possible to work even if you are a student.

Tell us your details, Josh. Where are you, what are your disabilities? I may be able to help you.

I can't work

I am unable to work, I have Skitzophrenia, which keeps me from working.

I live in San Antonio Texas.

Asking

JoshuaEHorn - 7-10-2005 at 11:10 AM

Asking, is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have Skitzo-effective disorder. which is Skitzophrenia and Bipolar in one. When I am in any work-enviroment, I break down mentally. I have tried several times. My parents are not in the best intrest in replacing my Oud. And they wont even let me take the remaining money out of my savings. So I have a problem. Im hoping someone out there is kind enough to help me. If anyone has any oud, new or old which functions at all, I would be gracious to have it at all. Im honestly, broke. and will remain that way until my mid twenties. Or maybe longer. So please help me, someone I am asking if anyone is out there who can help me? :(

Just wanted know.... how did your oud pass away?

Well...

JoshuaEHorn - 7-11-2005 at 02:31 PM

Well...

The bridge ripped off the body leaving a gaping hole. I used the wrong strings for an oud, it was my fault. And the builders fault.

First off, it was a twelve pegged oud, but only had 11 string holes on the bridge, with an extra hole that had been filled in with wood glue. I drilled the hole back out, perfectly. I used what was basically twine as strings which should of worked, but apparently, without being told, the pressure of the 12th hole ripped the brige half off then the rest just fell off. The hole, I rounded off, into a rectangle hoping it could be fixed by me, but no go. and I have no means of money or places to fix it. It was beautiful so it is a terrible loss. , for me anyways.

If I could propose something...
Since its probably sitting somewhere in ur basement.
Instead of leaving it for dead, there are a lot of people that do repairs for fun and experiance with the wood. I suggest passing it to someone who could get you a new face and make new brassings..
just a suggestion. you dont have to take me on it. I just think its a good Idea instead of getting a new one from someone.
Cheers

I would

JoshuaEHorn - 7-13-2005 at 01:22 PM

I would do that... If I had any money, lest you forget.

Jameel - 7-13-2005 at 02:12 PM

Joshua,

An idea: Maybe you could find someone in your area that plays oud and maybe you could borrow one to play. It might happen that an oud teacher would have a student-grade oud sitting around that would be great for you. But I suggest you dont' mention how your oud broke! In the meantime, save your allowance. Haluk sells ouds for very reasonable prices.

I'll trade

JoshuaEHorn - 7-18-2005 at 06:46 AM

I'll trade what of would been a 200$ Ibanez GAX 70 translucent red electric guitar, for a cheap Oud. I obtaned this guitar several years ago for my birthday. It's got one humbucker pickup at the bridge and one single coil Fender Japanese 1986 pickup at the neck. (its been customized).
