For those in the new york area, Simon Shaheen will be performing at a free concert at Castle Clinton in Battery Park this Sunday the 31st at 6:00
p.m.
It's free but you need tickets; basically you have to get there kind of early and they'll give you a ticket.
It's Shaheen's Qantara group.

Thanks for the info. I'm curious to know, is this Farid's oud that Simon is pictured with? The one he recently acquired? Looks very similar.

For those of you in the Detroit area, Simon will be performing this evening (Thursday 7/28) at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center (I
think its in Dearborn, but I'm not sure).
That looks like a beautiful oud he's got. Simon recently acquired Farid's oud?

Hi Jameel,
They're not the same oud, but Georges Nahat made both of them. I don't recall ever seeing Farid with the oud in Simon's hands. It could be one of
Farid's sub rosa ouds.
He had 30 to 50 such instruments at any given
time. He occasionally gave some of them as presents. Anyway I'll ask my folks about this.
