I found it to be fascinating. It shows how mosaic inlay is done in the traditional Syrian style. This is how much of the inlay on ouds is
accomplished, although other methods are also used. The designs in the video are mostly end-grain patterns done with dyed woods. Some of the Nahat
inlays are just as intricate, but utilize face grain instead, an extremely diffucult process since the sticks of wood (having their long dimension
perpendicular to the grain) are extremely fragile. Anyone who has cut a thin strip off the end of a board knows how fragile it is.
