Since I live in Los Angeles, can you guys tell me when this wonderful oudist is giving a concert. I new that he would play in some
reastaurant in Hollywood but I don;t have info. Can you guys give me some info?

By the way. Although I am not in the Arabic school of oud playing I am still going to go to Simon Shaheen's concert in September.

Davidg--the Hollywood shows are off until this fall. Awesome shows, though, and free. I have seen him play such an incredibly diverse amount of
material there. Turkish, Armenian, Arabic, Greek. Even material that you never hear on oud--Vivaldi, American standards, everything.

John is scheduled for a show on October 15 and music workshop on October 16 with Soheil Kaspar in Portland, Oregon. It will be held at the Orpheum
Theatre in Southeast Portland. If antone's interested, u2 me and I'll forward the details when I get them. I'll be presenting a workshop in Persian
music history, structure, and styles with demos on santur and oud on Sunday as well.
