Joseph Tawadros on the MP3 Page

Mike - 11-13-2003 at 05:35 PM

Don't miss this amazing oud player's taqsim on the MP3 Page. This file was kindly sent to me by Dimitri, who is Joseph's oud student. He told me that Joseph is only 20 years old.

Read more about him on the MP3 Page.

Enjoy!

He's definitely a great oudist.
Thanks for bringing him to us, Mikey.

Joseph's upcoming CDs

mitskits - 11-15-2003 at 10:13 PM

Hi, just to let you know that Joseph has recorded two CDs recently. One solo oud called "The Storyteller" and another one with celebrated Indian percussionist Bobby Singh (don't know the name yet). They are due out soon. I will post a message as soon as I have more news.

Hi Dimitri. Joseph's ouds are really beautiful, with amazing tone. Can you tell us where he gets his instruments?

Thanks again for bringing this player to our attention, he's extremely talented.

All the best,

mavrothis

Mike, is there a way to have the pics as downloadable links (like mp3 attachments) so that the thread is loading quicker?

cheers,
Dimitri

Joseph's ouds

mitskits - 11-16-2003 at 03:46 PM

Mavrothis and others,

The oud in the first photo I sent is an old oud from 1978, which Joseph purchased of an oud player in Egypt. The second one he purchased from the oud maker Rifat
Saber of Shobra Cairo who makes great ouds. The one he plays now, in the third pic, is by 'Imam and his brother' from Cairo, they are not well known makers, but Joseph liked the sound and the raised fingerboard.

Wonderfull pictures

spyros mesogeia - 11-17-2003 at 01:34 AM

Those pictures are wonderfull....we can see very clear the relationship between the oud and the player.....it's a part of our body....our second nature.....our second voice.

From the same concert as the other one.. this is a piece composed by Joseph and titled "Birds Of Paradise".

Enjoy,

Dimitri

TruePharaoh21 - 11-23-2003 at 05:34 PM

He does his takassim with his own style, and he does his compositions with his own style... and what a beautiful style it is. Dimitri, I hope you're telling him that we truly enjoy all of his work. Keep it coming, man!

TruePharaoh21 - 12-18-2003 at 01:17 PM

What happened? We just stopped hearing about this guy... bring on some more clips! Tawadros! Tawadros! :D
