types of Risha

hakeem.ram - 12-15-2005 at 08:27 PM

Salam Forumers (if there is such a word)!

I was wondering on the types of risha available. I have heard of the bone rishas! but then again how are they better than the plastic risha??

I have been using a plastic risha but then again i am really not satisfied with it. Does it really make a difference or is it just the beginner me?

If the bone risha are better how do i get one for myself?

Thanks for taking your time to answer this really basic question

Jameel sells some made out of a tortoise shell-like material. You may want to invest in one of those.

There was a forrum member here that had a risha made of bone. There is close to no give in bone So its not a good material to make a risha. He wasnt satisfied with it at all.

Many people seem to like Jameel's professional oud risha.
Here is the link to purchase one. There is a video demonstration of it being used also so you can have a look for yourself. I havent bought one for myself yet but I trust the people that say its good.

Using a harder risha requires more control for most people so before you go and get a new risha, Figure out what it is that is hindering you.
- Is it too much "click" sound ( jameel's risha is said to lower that a lot)
- Is it difficult to control? ( why? because it has too much give and it needs more "spring" OR is it too stiff already?)

Maybe if you have a more details on what is wrong with your risha then someone will be able to awnser you precisely
