Has anybody listened to Amine & Hamza M'raihi ??
For french speakers there are interviews which start with excerpts of their music

Zalzal, thanks for sending me the file. I have converted part of it to an mp3 of less than 1 MB and attached it to your post above.

Thanks Greg
Nafha (Inspiration) is a dialogue with indian tabla based on spontaneous improvisation starting and ending on the maqam Pasendide while touring in
between on the arabs and turkish maqams. That is what is written in the cd jacquet. (maqam with q not with k)
Does anybody know about this maqam Pasendide ?? May be an afghan mode or fm azeri mugham tradition or arabised indian raga.
I think we will hear fm M'raihi brothers (Amine and Hamza) for the next 60
years.

Can anybody tell what this meeting with Said Chraibi introduced Hamza to?

zalzal,
I'm basing this on Scott Marcus' dissertation. I'm assuming Padendide is the same as maqam Basandidah, found in the Nawa Athar fasilah. It is much
like Nakriz in scale, only the 7th note is raised a quarter tone:
C D Eb F# G A B(half flat) C
I hope this helps.

It helps a lot. I thought i was bringing new things to the forum but in fact there were already topics on this maqam posted by you...
I will try to listen again the file, having the scale you posted in mind.
And trying to hear the B quarter tone, which, i believe, is the key note.
(I hope it is played in C scale otherwise i will never hear the 7th note....and i will become crazy, my god this oud studies, including ear education,
together with daily heavy job, and even more crazy family business will drive me directly to the alzheimer institute)
Anyhow what people who have downloaded exerpts fm Nafha in this mode think about ?.
I like the Amin M'raihi personel style of playing improvised phrases, fast and furious.....young blood and perfect timing
