I am going to Syria in 10 days and I will stay there for 2 days,
I would like to know if someone of you can give me directions and info about places where to buy OUDS and plectras and also a Hard cover for the oud
I already have.
just to mention that I will be in Damascus, so I will appreciate any information could be helpful...

Check out http://www.sabsaby.com I heard he makes good ouds, he's in Syria, but I am not sure if he's in Damascus, he may be in Aleppo. His
e-mail is huosain@sabsaby.com. He made Afif Taain's oud (Check out the video page on this site)
There's another good Syrian oud maker, Ibrahim Sukkar, but he is in Aleppo. His ouds may be available in Damascus.

I was in Damascus about 4 years ago and while there are many oud shops, there were NO good or even decent ouds to be found in them. Many had
counterfiet Nahats for sale. These wre junky old ouds with Nahat Roses. The musicians I met told me to go to Allepo, but I didn't make it. I
found an old oud in a curio store, but it wasn't much good either. There is Samir, in Damascus. He has a group
