Does anyone know of any oud teachers/players in the UK, Iam based in Portsmouth but can travel. I began playing about a month ago and am getting a
feel of the instrument but would love to have a bit of guidance from a more experienced player to help me on my way. I don't read music but have a
good ear, can improvise and have played guitar for 24 years or so , so I am not entirely a beginner. I have an interest in Armenian music but this
certainly does not exclude anything else by any means.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Kind regards
Leon
P.S - Hello Haluk hope you are well, Iam enjoying the oud you sent me and with some practice am beginning to do the instrument a little justice. I
have noticed now I can get a decent tone across all strings whereas at first I struggled a bit with using the risha - I am more relaxed now with it.

Hi Leon,
I don't know of any Armenian oud player/teachers in the UK but there is an oud player/teacher by the name of Selem Abdul Karem who teaches the oud
over the internet. Go to http://www.salemabdulkarem.com and and you will see a reference to oud lessons. Email him and see if he can help you.
Good Luck & Happy New Year,
Andy

Thanks Andy I'll check that out - Happy new year to you. Maybe there are some oud players rather than teachers in the UK I may be able to chat to -
it's so helpful just to see others playing especially informally.
Best wishes
Leon
