Hi all,

I am selling one of my most precious oud. This oud was built in 1981, by Abd el Salam Safar, Damascus, Syria.

Abd el Salam Safar is one of the famoust nayati (one who plays the nay) in the Middle East. He joined many great artists in the arabo world, Marcel Khalifeh and others...

Abd el Salam Safar built only 3 ouds of this kind. Their destination was to the 3 greatest: Mohammad Abdel-Wahab, Farid el-Atrache and Wadi3 el-Safi.

This one was owned by Wadi3 el Saf (the first owner).

specs: 72cm from end to end, 62cm long and 32cm large.

The price: 2100$ + shipping

sound sample will be included...

Here are the pictures:

dissmiss this as the source did not confirm.]]]]

There is a correction to be made, one of the ouds was not intended to Farid el-Atrache but to Sabah Fakhri. I just contacted the sources where the oud comes from.

But this does change any to this oud, because his owner was Wadi3 el Safi (you can ask him if you want)

Salamat

Dear chaldo,

Thank you for sharing this beauty with us, i have created the same mould and 3 ouds were created in 1998 without knowing that someone thought about it before, I am amazed!

This idea came to let the professional players to get inside for more and easy positions.

Mr. Abdul Salam created it and we tuned it

Here is my oud, by the way it was very difficult to twist the wood slices into that shape we went through a lots of experiments and test to come up with that shape it looks like (pearl shelf):

The below oud is the common design that came in the end of the 70’s. We wanted to come with something new than the ordinary cut and we came out with the Pearl shape oud. As I said the oud maker (Osta Ali Nashadir) had a hard time doing it.

Great,

You are most welcome! Indeed it's really interesting to see the variations and techniques used by many, to include this particular feature on the oud. Al Tayyar ouds are also shapped with this kind of specification. Thanks for your input.
