Hi all,
I'm new to the oud world and I'm seeking a teacher in the Los Angeles area. Recently caught the "oud" bug. On a very hasty impulse
I bought an oud on eBay and its a real piece of junk made in Pakistan. So, I'm also looking for a decent oud... I can spend maybe $500-600 and
I'd prefer a Turkish or a Bashir style – anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks... Great site! I look forward to spending some time here.

Hello Lee,
Welcome to the forums. Try contacting Wael Kakish at kzaman@kanzaman.org.
He is in Pasadena... hopefully not too far from where you are. He has some ouds for sale too. He has a Turkish oud that he bought from Necati Celik a
few years ago at the Middle Eastern Music Camp in Mendocino. I believe he is looking to sell it. The rest are Arabic ouds. Hope this helps.
Take care,
Mike
P.S. Cool website you have too.

Welcome to the posts, Lee.
I agree with Mike. Wael Kakish is a fantastic teacher in Pasadena. I have also had the chance to play on the turkish oud that he has, and it is
definitely something worth having.
Good luck to you in the future, and keep us posted.
