Hi abusin,
I know that book, and I can tell you my opinion about. Thought it is supposed to be a oud learning method, it doesn't show or explain any oud related technique (nothing more than you can find asking to people of this forum). If you already feel comfortable with music reading and you can hold a oud and a risha, I suggest you to consider other resources. One of the features that are very highlighted of this book is the double version of the exercise, for turkish and arabic oud...but in the end it's just the traposition of the same (and very very...too easy) exercises, nothing is mentioned about different styles, scales, or instrument techniques. And, in the end, there's no reference to maqams at all, the only mentioned is Ajam, that is nothing but our beloved western major scale...he says in the book that he will start talking about maqams and quarter of tones in the second book...that I've personally never seen. In the end, if you are already inside the music and wanna learn something, spend your money in something else. But this is just my opinion...
Ciao ciao, Giuseppe.
