Wow. That looks great! Maple, and what is the rib down the center? Walnut?
What kind of purfling are you using?
It looks great.

What a start Riadh! This is going to be a very fine oud. Any plans for inlay work for this oud? What kind of wood are you planning to use for the soundboard? What are the scale length/dimensions?

riadh.3oud - 7-9-2006 at 02:24 PM

hello my friend!
i will use spruce for soundboard
length 58,5cm
soundboard 48,75 / 36

Jonathan - 7-14-2006 at 05:01 AM

Beautiful. And the ribs look nice and thin. Did you actually cut them with that blade in your hand in one of the top photos? Must have been difficult.

riadh.3oud - 7-14-2006 at 05:13 AM

hello Jonathan
I cut the ribs with blade in first time, after with a plane.

Greg - 7-23-2006 at 06:10 AM

riadh.3oud ,

Congratulations, your oud is looking great.

May I suggest you resize your photos to a maximum 800 pixels wide, before posting them? That will make it quicker for members to load them and also allow them to fit on the screen properly.

Regards,

Greg

Hello Riadh!

I would love to see the other steps towards the end of your project, because you got me hooked to it.
Great Job! ;)

paulO - 10-25-2006 at 06:38 PM

Hi riadh.3oud ,

I have to second the motion of Oud_Jammer, I just stumbled on this thread, and man !! The maple is stunning, just a beautiful job with the separator strips, and offsetting with the rosewood center strip -- cool !
Terrific work: :applause: Best of luck with the project.

Cheers...PaulO
