Using a capo on.. the oud

Hi dear oud fellows!

Some questions and comments have being posted here about tuning the oud.
Personnaly I learnt to read score using the arabic tuning, but then I figured out I could better sing with a turkish style tuning (that is to say one tone higher). I thought about doing something, that strangely I have never seen somebody doing this before: using a capo so as to set my oud one tone higher when I want to sing some songs. My question is: as I have never seen this before on a oud (but it's very common for guitar player), does it mean that it can harm the oud or damage it in any way?

Thanks for answering, as using a capo would maybe settle a complicate dilemma I'm asking myself concerning the tuning

I have used capos on oud. I do not see any harm that could possibly happen to the neck. I found that steel strings guitar capo work better than the rest that I have tried.

oud player Joey Kouyoumjian has been using a capo for long time and it works out well for him.
