hey guys, i just remembered to put up this message saying that i've seen a particular oud (made in syria) that is especially made for women. it
is literally shaped like a pear to match the woman's figure and i was wondering if anyone knew about that or if it's something new...

Nadir my man, i believe I saw the oud u spoke about, but I don't think it's "custom-made" for women. I saw actually two examples
of males oudists with such Ouds (one is a Saudi composer but i forgot his name). I believe this is done only as a type of "decoration", to
give the Oud a different look. I'm not sure what the others think though. Peace!
Yours truly, Basel

I have one of these. I bought it out of curiosity from a dealer in Cairo.
Originally it was meant for women players. It is lighter and the voice is thinner.
I'm sure guys can use it as well but it just doesn't have that 'arabic' sound to it.

thanks guys, seems that even though there is an oud for women, they don't play it... haha!
i guess all they want is to hear us guys play it and enjoy it themselves, must seem "more romantic" to them...
