there are two versions of lebella strings, OU80, and OU80A (Arabic tuning), I have an arabic oud, but i was wondering why the thicknesses for the la
bella arabic oud strings (OU80A) are thinner than the regular la bella oud strings (OU80). I know that arabic ouds are tuned lower than turkish, so
shouldn't the arabic strings be thicker? Which set should I get?Can anyone help me out before I buy one of these sets?

Hey Merc,
I preferred the Thomastik's over the La Bella strings. I have tried the Arabic OU80A's. The Just Strings Website offers both. I liked their trebles better than the La Bella trebles. If you get them,
don't freak out that there is only one g and c treble string in each packet. Cut it in the center, and you'll have two strings!
Good luck,
Mike

but why are the arabic tuned la bella thiner than turkish if arabic ouds are tuned lower, isnt it the lower the sound usually the thicker the string?

The frequency of the sound produced by the string is inversely proportional to the length and the linear mass. Arabic ouds usually have longer
scales. So for the same tension a thinner but longer string will produce the same frequency (note) as a shorter but thicker string.
Sorry if that sounds confusing. It's Physics.

The arabic LaBella are actually thicker than the Turkish, particularly the nylons. The difference in the wound is minimal. They worked better for
arabic tuning than the Turkish set.
Here are the mesaurements:
