after talking about it for months, i have launched a new podcast:
"Maqam Lessons"
which are meant as short practice lessons for self-study of maqam. the format is a melodic-phrase-based approach, like my group classes: i play a
phrase, and you imitate it. i will be uploading 10-minute lessons about twice a week. for a detailed explanation of how to use them, please listen
to the "introductory episode." you can download directly from:
http://maqamlessons.com
or subscribe via iTunes by entering RSS feed http://maqamlessons.com/rss
if you have any comments or suggestions after trying them, please email me to let me know.

Verry nice... especialy the playing with lots of nice feeling and simple but powerfull ornamentations.
but the arabic pronounciation of the maqamat names is not accurate.
I tought he was a native speaker... maybe not the case afterall.
The corect pronounciations can be found on http://www.maqamworld.com
