I Really like the idea of a composition for oud and symphony.

judged solely on what i saw on tv broadcasts from north africa - ensemble play with oud is quite common - sometimes with more violins than you would
care to count - or indeed, listen to. to me they make a huge gushy, sloshy sound (simulating water, perhaps). i have no idea what a full orchestra
and oud would sound like - much like classical guitar and orchesta perhaps.

That's what I was thinking, but with a bit more of a rustic sound that truely defines the Middle East.

Rustic?
I don't understand what is rustic about Middle Eastern music?

Hey guys, Hope all is well.
I did a collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra last Feb. You can find one of the pieces (Oasis) at http://www.myspace.com/josephtawadros and two vidoes at http://www.josephtawadros.com
These also feature my brother James on req' and Richrad Tognetti on violin.
The Australian Chamber orchestra and I are currently working on a recording of 9 pieces for Oud and orchestra which I composed and arranged with
Violinist/conductor of the orchestra...should be available next year.
would like to know your opinion of pieces...
Cheers,
JT

I like this a lot.
The french contrabassist Renaud Garcia Fons has similar compositions. I love this stuff. Thank you JT. Would be nice to see you one day in France.
