Hi everyone I would be grateful if any of you know any Oud Luther in the UK as my Oud was damaged in shipping to the UK from Syria .I will attach some pict :(:(

As you can see the hard case was also damaged and he lock's we broken even when they were not locked and on the top where it had the lock the key was attached to the case. What can i say the oud was badly handled by Aramix :(:(:(:(:(:(

Aramex it is the MOST BAD delivery service. i too used their services, and have received a parcel in very bad kind(but, fortunately, oud has not suffered)
it is necessary to tell all:
!!!!!!!! DO NOT USE ARAMEX !!!!!!!
(when you send oud)

I am in Newcastle ....I tell you i was really sad to see it when i opened it is was like some went made and just thought i who care about this package .... You see i tried to fix it my self but when i started opening the string's the CRACK was getting bigger so i left it.... As you all can see the oud has a CRACK all the was from the back where the string's are till the nick....... Even when thought with it in that condition i have noticed that the back is silding where the CRACK is when i rest my right hand to play on it...... The only reason i have made this post so that i can see if any oud luthers are happy to have look at the Oud and if it can be fixed nicley. I really thank you all for the nice coments and support's.

Yikes. Does Aramex offer any kind of insurance on international shipments?

Looks like an Azar oud?

I don't know about oud luthiers but I would imagine there are quite a few lute builders in the UK and the build mechanics of the two instruments are probably similar enough that they could fix it. I don't know if the crack can be repaired or if they would need to replace rib(s).

I don't think the oud was insured for damage when it was shipped....with regards to the back two of the ribs are broken.

I think the best possible solution is to ask Samir if he could send you 2 or 3 rib blanks of the same wood this way the wood will match. And then try to get in touch with a luthier around your area Iam sure can be found.
Sorry to hear that. But the pictures dont lie. The way this box is pretty much mangled its obvious that there was foul play. You should really get on there heads about that. Because I have one of those cases and from the pictures it looks like someone took an Axe to it.

Thank you for the advise . only if you see the rest of the hard case it was badly damaged i will attach some pict soon of how they even broke the lock's when only one had a key

This type of split rib damage is typical of shipping but can be fixed rather easily. The crack can be gllued back together by applying glue into the crack and holding it together with masking tape. The crack can be opened slightyly to apply glue into the crack, and then pushed together and taped until the glue sets. Use hot hide glue if you can or aliphatic resin or yellow carpenter's glue, or epoxy adhesive as a last resort. Do not use crazy glue, white polyvinyl glue or any other synthetic adhesive. Replacing the rib would be difficult and unnecessary.

Im soooo sorry- man that really stinks, but the good news is that Dr. Oud's suggestion does work very well- I had to do it myself once- just be patient with the drying- let it sit for a couple days just in case....
