Hi everyone,
On Monday, January 8 at 7pm our trio will be playing some nice Turkish classical/Ottoman repertoire at Barbes...a cozy little bar/performance space in
Brooklyn, New York. If any of you New Yorkers are free, come on down. It's a great space, we're playing only for tips and for our passion toward the
music.
Phaedon Sinis - klasik kemençe (small pear-shaped fiddle)
Mavrothis Kontanis - ud
Adam Good - tanbur (long-necked lute)
HOSHNEVA: Turkish Classical/Ottoman Music. Hoshneva, which means "pleasant melodies" in Turkish, is the name for this ensemble of three American
musicians steeped in the Turkish Classical music tradition. The group plays works written between the 18th and 20th Centuries by master composers such
as Tatyos Efendi, Tanburi Cemil Bey, Tanburi Osman Bey and also explores various makams through improvised taksims.
