Hello Everyone,
I am playing oud for a Tribal Belly Dancing Troup here in Alaska. Up to this point I am making up my own stuff to play. I am wondering if anyone
could reccomend some music with oud that I could get some ideas from. All the oud music I have now is solo oud and not the type I would play for the
dancers.

The only recording I might think of is Babylon Mood by Munir bashir,,,, but it is heavey stuff,
your best bid is if you transcribe the belly dance music made by the synth to your oud..

For belly dance, I love John Bilezikjian's "Magic" cd (see his website, http://www.dantzrecords.com)
The first two tracks are actually arranged as two belly dance routines, and are just fantastic.

Chalf Hassan is a moroccan oudist and percussionist specialised in belly dance
In this link yoy have lot of cds choices for belly dance including one for Chalf Hassan. http://www.arcmusic.co.uk/inc/index.php/cPath/6?osCsid=17aef0acdded...
There are more cds by him
I try to join a sample of Amoul Koutche, (the car owner, koutche for spanish coche) which i particularly appreciate. Very syncopated oud attack on 6/8
pattern, may be unsual for belly dancers but in fact very very belly dance music.
It could be hot reproducing this music in Alaska. At least we will know the origin of glacial melting.....
