It has a huge crack. You figure whatever you pay for it, you'll pay an extra 100-400 just fixing the crack. Save your money for now for an intact
oud.

i agree with TP, there would be no reason to get a cracked oud opposed to an intact one.

Looks like crap.

Strictly for display!

If you can get the oud for 20 bucks, go for it. It's at around 10 right now. 20+fixing costs will be just about the same as buying a new oud.
This is just in case we dashed your hopes of buying it.

P.S. No more than 20!

thanks a lot, the reason why i was interested in it is I thought it may not affect the voice ,maybe could be used as it is for a while ????

Some people definitely do this. I know a good friend of mine on this forum has a broken oud but still plays it.
It's all a matter of choice. I started out with what appeared to be the biggest pile of crap oud ever, which made it extra hard to match sounds
with songs by learning by ear. It ended up making my playing a bit more accurate. Well, after doing that for about half a year, I got a much better
oud from Fathi Amin, and the learning increased dramatically. It seemed much easier.
If you like, you can start out with a not so good oud, but keep in mind that you'll get a good one sooner than later. If you start out with a bad
oud, think of the benefits it may yield in the future.
It's your choice, bro.

zz80, if you would like an excellent beginner's oud for a cheap price i can email you some stuff...
zz80 - 2-6-2004 at 06:56 PM
yeah it is a good idea. I really don't want to start with a perfect oud and ruin it 'cause I am sure I won't be so careful with it
since I am a beginner. If this big crack won't affect the voice, (or at least not much) I can buy that just to learn. I can also have a look at
the other cheap ones you can suggest,
thanks to all
