Hi everyone,
Are there any good oudmakers in Cyprus (Greek side)? Is the oud even used in mainland Greece and Cyprus? I've heard the term laouta used
before. Is it the same instrument? Though there are many Greek oud players they all seem to have their origins in Asia Minor.
I'll be mainly in Limassol but also expect to spend some time in Nicosia.
Thanks

Dear friend,
I personally don't know any oudmaker in Cyprus, and I don't know any traditions of that kind ,as it is on the mainland Greece....any how,the
''laouto'' is not the same instrument with ''outi''[oud],and if you want some more details contact me....it
will be my pleasure to help you....there are two types of laouto....
You can see the diferences on this adress....this is a mainland laouto

spyros,
thank you for your reply. hopefully i can make it to your shop one day. (you are 12 days older than me by the way!) well, i would be interested to
know how this instrument is used, i.e. as a solo instrument, or more as part of an ensemble. do you know of any sound clips that feature it?
still if anyone has information about outi, or just music in general in cyprus i would appreciate it.
thanks,
boghos
