A really rare professional Iraqi oud for sale on eBay:
About the oud:
The oud was made in 1995 by one of the finest Iraqi oud makers, the late "Najm Abbood". This luthier had been hunted-for by legendary artists from all
over the world, such as Wadee' Safi, Baleegh Hamdi, Riadh Sunbati, Mohammad Qasabji, Fareed Atrash, and many others. Some pictures of this legendary
oud-maker with some of these artists at his workshop years back in Iraq are posted below.
Unfortunately, this history-maker passed away about 5 years ago, leaving behind a treasure of few of these seriously limited oud editions. The oud
ended up in my hands through his son "Haidar Najm" (who is also a very fine luthier).
Specifications of the oud:
- The soundbox is composed of 17 ribs (Walnut and "Zann"), therefore giving it this "Golden Glow" appearance (see pix below).
- Soundbox length: 50cm (20 inches)
- Soundbox width: 41cm (~17 inches)
- Soundbox depth: 20cm (8 inches)
- Fingerboard length: 20.5cm (8.2 inches)
- Pegbox, nut, and bridge are designed to house 12 strings
- Bridge type: fixed.
The oud has a brandnew Pyramid string set installed.
An optional fiberglass hardcase is also available at 140 US$.
The oud will be professionally packed and shipped through an international shipping company (TNT or DHL), with an online tracking number.
This is a rare opprtunity to own such a piece of art made by one legendary luthier.

Oh thanks Samir. Yes, I've just noticed the pix are well beyond the 1 Mb (~4-5 Mb). I'll transform them into another smaller file type.Oud.Proff - 2-23-2007 at 02:10 PM

Nice oud O.P. Beautiful playing too. Sunbati is awesome! Loved the pictures of Baleegh and Wadih with the maker. Very cool! Oud.Proff - 7-20-2007 at 04:16 AM

Thanks to you Mike, honored that you liked my playing. Indeed, Sunbati is a true inspiration to oud lovers !.
Those rare pictures were gifts from Haidar Najm Abbood to a fine oudist friend here. The late Najm wasn't much of a camera man, but rather worked hard
in the shadows of his workshop. That's why we don't see many pictures of him
