Anybody have any suggestions for somebody in the LA area that does a really good job with French polish?
I have an oud that I want to get re-finished--the oud is in great shape, but the surface shellac is wearing off, and I would like to get it re-done.
I would really prefer not to mail this oud out, so I am hoping somebody knows of somebody in the Southern Cali area that I can take it to. And,
hopefully, somebody that is familiar with French polish. I called some of the violin repair shops, without success.
Najarian does a really good job, but I know that he is backed up for months. Any other suggestions?

Studio City Music - Hans Benning is good. He's a violin maker who makes a lot of gambas and period reproductions. Yuris Zeltins at The Blue Guitar in
San Diego is the best. He repairs guitars for the Romeros and does lots of high end restoring. Tell him it's a rush job, however. He's a bit backed up
like Viken.
