Hey Chicago-area people, Simon Shaheen is doing a concert tonight at the College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, Ill outside of Chicago:

Brian, I am going tonight. Are you going to be there? If so, look out for me ;) We met at the retreat in 2005

Simon was amazing!!! I think he's taken the best qualities of the masters before him and adapted them to his own style. I really think he can be the best in history, but with all due respect to the late masters before him.

Brian, you did awesome too. That was a fanstastic solo at the end. Bassam Saba is always a delight to hear too.

I wanted to go backstage and talk to you guys, but I had to take my parents home, it was past their bedtime :)

Hey Sam, thanks. I wish I had gotten to see you, of course I remember you from the retreat. I didn't realize you were there because I hadn't thought to post anything here until 5 minutes before I left for the airport, so I didn't see your post until today.

Next time for sure.

Are any of Shaheen's concerts available on video/DVD? Live concerts are good, but preserving (and propagating) the heritage may make a lot more sense, especially for a virtuoso in the process of making history.
