I have been looking for this song since I returned from a visit to Egypt. It is very difficult to find. I didn't know who the song was by. I am going
to try to hear it from your site. i don't know if it is possible. I live in Montreal. I cannot believe the artist does too! Neat!

I have never seen a score of "Inta Omri" on line. Music books for the major stars of Egyptian music have been published (I have one for Farid
Al-Atrache), including Umm Kulthum. You could try contacting Nile Shop to see if they can sell you one (I believe many books of songs sung by Umm

The notation for "Inta Omri" appears in the book 'Alhan khalida,' an antholgoy of musical pieces edited by Ibrahim Ghrayyib (published in Beirut in
1997 by Dar Maktabat al-Hayat). You might be able to find this book, which includes a lot of pieces, mostly instrumental. The "Inta Omri" notation is
ten pages long.

Do you know if this book would come with notations specificaly for oud? as in when you buy notes for a peice in western classical music you have say a
part for trombone 1 trombone 2 and 3 which are usualy the bass melodies and 1 the solo parts etc... would there be the part for Qanun 1 etc. and for
Kamanja 1 and Kamanja 2....Or am I asking for too much hehe.

Samir, the pieces in this collection are in the standard Arab notation for a solo instrument (playable on the oud, qanun, violin, nay). There are no
arrangements with separate parts for multiple instruments.

Alami, no problem. I can comment about some of the collections of Arab music notations that are useful. A number of good ones published a while back
are now unfortunately either out of print or very hard to find. For example, there is a large three-volume anthology of instrumental pieces by Abd
al-Rahman Jabaqji (“al-Mawsu’ah al-musiqiyah”). It is the most comprehensive collection of sama’is, bashrafs and longas in Arabic notation.
Jabaqji also published a nice book of Arabic folksongs (“al-Fulklur al-‘arabi”) with notations and lyrics, and anthologies of songs of Farid,
Abd al-Wahhab, Fairuz, and Abd al-Halim Hafiz. His books were self-published in Aleppo 25-30 years ago, and I am not sure that he is still alive and
the books are available. There are also two very good collections of muwashshah songs that are no longer in print (one edited by Salim al-Hilu and the
other by Nadim Ali al-Darwish and Fu’ad Raja’i). Books in the Arab world, especially specialised ones with expected small readerships, tend to be
issued in small runs and become unavailable relatively quickly.
The best bet is to look for more recently published books that can be purchased through online stores like adabwafan.com and maqam.com, or directly
from the publishers. Adabwafan has available several recently published collections of notations of individual artists. Alami posted the web page
showing the anthology of Umm Kulthum songs. The same series includes also anthologies of the songs of Fairuz, Farid, Abd al-Wahhab, and Sabah Fakhri,
and possibly other artists. I have not seen these books, but they look like good buys. Maybe those who get them can tell us more.
For those interested in songs by great composers of a previous generation, including Sayyid Darwish, Da'ud Husni, Abduh al-Hamuli, and Zakariya Ahmad,
a good anthology is "Turathuna al-musiqi" by Mahmud 'Ajjan (published in Damascus by Dar Tlas in 1990).
A recently published collection that has a mixture of pieces is “Alhan khalida,” which I had mentioned earlier. Anthologies of this sort often
repeat pieces that we already have or include pieces that we are not interested in, so it’s hard to make a definite recommendation for a particular
collection. One anthology that is well done is the four-volume collection titled "Sharqiyat" issued in 2002 by the National Conservatory of Music at
Birzeit University. The books are used by the conservatory for degree exams in performance, so they are arranged by level of technical difficulty
(from simple songs like ‘Ala dal’ona to challenging instrumental pieces by Munir Bashir and Muhiddin Targan). And I just noticed that the
collection includes Inta omri! These books are available for purchase online:

Another source of notations is oud methods, some of which have a good selection of pieces. Charbel Rouhana's recently published oud method includes
many traditional as well as more contemporary compositions. Abd al-Mun'im Arafah's now classic "Dirasat al-'ud" was recently reprinted in Cairo. It
has over a hundred pages of notated instrumental pieces. The four-volume method by the Syrian oud player Fu'ad Mahfuz ("Ta'lim al-'ud") also includes
many pieces, but I don't believe that it has been reprinted since it first came out in the 1960s.
Some web sites have free sheet music that can be downloaded, although the online sources for Arab music are currently far inferior to what is
available for Turkish music. Other web sites sell the sheet music for individual pieces, for example:

Speaking of web sites, there is of course this forum, which has been a good place for people to get notations from fellow members. I think that
between us we could come up with the sheet music for most pieces.

I dropped today in a music store and found that they have a lot of many new music sheets books and many new reprints.
The self-published books of Jabakji are reedited gathering the previous different volumes in one book for each artist from "Dar Al Tourath Al Mousiqi
Al Arabi", which seems the Jabakji House. I got the Fayrouz Anthology (192 songs), but I couldn't find "Al Mawsou'ah Al Musiqia"
(Salim al-Hilu and Nadim Ali al-Darwish and Fu’ad Raja’i Books are no more available.)
Clean and well printed OumKoulthoum and Abdelwahab scores in a serie called "Songs & Melodies by Vasken Habib" - Aleppo
Two new anthologies:
"Oughniat Min Al Turath" - Joseph Fakhouri (160 traditional songs)
"Ahla Al Kalam Wa Arwa' Al Alhan" - Habib Zaher Al Abbas - 164 classical songs and Muwashah"
Both published by Al Maktaba Al Haditha - Beirut
They also told me that the "Turathuna al-musiqi" by Mahmud 'Ajjan is actually unavailable (but may be still available in Syria)
Alhan Khalida serie is available.
All these books are not really expensive which means that the original composers are not getting rights for the publication of their music, add to
this that many are traditional and public domain old music, so I think that Al Halabi suggestion of building our own "online Library" is a good idea.

Thanks for the references to the new collections of notations that you found. I think that Fakhouri’s anthology has been out for a while – I got
the book about ten years ago. At least the edition I have includes the melodies for Johnny Guitar and White Christmas!
Perhaps I should clarify that in my comments about the usefulness of this forum as a source for notations I was not recommending that we set up an
online library of notations, although that is definitely worth considering. I was giving my impression that members have been generally successful in
getting notations from others on the forum when they posted a request. If that is correct then one possibility is to continue with this informal way
of sharing with each other when the occasional request comes up. It would be nice, of course, to have a broad-based online library of Arab music
notations. It would take some planning to set it up in an organized way that makes it user-friendly, especially if it develops into a large project
with hundreds of pieces that need to be classified (perhaps most reasonably by maqam and composer) and mounted, presumably by members who volunteer to
maintain the archive. (There are good models that we could follow, such as adamgood’s archive of Ottoman pieces.) Something on this order would
require a dedicated space on the site that goes beyond a single thread. If there is general interest in setting up such an archive, we need to hear
what Mike thinks of the idea.

I believe that the "Library Project" is worth being considered.
Ethically, there is no commercial side as all is free.
Culturaly, there is no "complete" ressource online of Oriental Music scores, which would make this one a good reference for people anywhere.
Practically, the members are spread all over the world where it is sometimes difficult to get arabic music sheets.

we are all Mike's guests) to look into the possibility of setting up a special Arabic oud sheet music/oud method/scores/ etc. archives section on
this wonderful website can be very useful. I was thinking just this morning how nice it would be for Mike'sOuds to have a special music archive
section that we could all access. This would require a lot of work, but if anyone can do it it would be Mike, with help from the many knowledgeable
members of this website.
