Musical Scores

SamirCanada - 3-22-2007 at 12:01 PM

This is just a small initiative that would be nice to see take place. I myself dont have much to contribute but it would be nice if people have musical notations for all kinds of peices that are played with oud. Instrumental classical peices and classical peices of the great composers who wrote for great singers like oum koulthoum etc... to put them in this neat file sharing page. if its too complicated you could attach them on this thread.

Music sheets and audio by jabakji

ALAMI - 3-22-2007 at 11:23 PM

Good Idea Samir, I'll start by linking the previously uploaded lessons to this post and I will update it each time a new one is added to the serie, and even if the score is posted and discussed elsewhere, we can post the link or the info here keeping this thread just about finding the scores, kind of full index.

adding a suggestion: When posting Image files Scores (jpg, bmp ....) let's post them zipped so they don't expand on this page, taking a lot of space and making the page slow to load (not everybody is on broadband).

A question for ALAMI: the Enta Omri score has got double score each line, both in G key. Is it the first line melody and the second one harmony (e.g. oud or qanun)?
Many thanks, Peppeo.

Marina, how did you find that? That's still a secret, and I'm the one developing it along with Issa. Well since it has been discovered, I should explain a few things about it . . .

We have been trying to develop a musical sheet archive for some time, but we've seemed to have lost interest in the last year or so, mainly due to my part time Masters study, full time career, oud practice, etc. At this point, the archive contains about 300 scores. It is still in "development mode" and some queries will not yield results.

Tips for searching

(1) Do not pick to many search criterias at the same time - pick 1 or 2 (if the combination makes sense)

(2) You'll need Adobe Reader or an equivelent application

(3) Be patient, search either composer, maqam, region, genre, etc. You'll find lots of good stuff

I will start a new thread for this archive - please post your feedback there so we can make improvement to it in the next few months. Just take it easy on us, this is still in development. If anyone wants to help us with it, please let me know. . . .

Thanks,
Sam

Peppeo,
Where it is sung (where lyrics are written abv the first line):
the upper line is the lyrics melody, the lower line is the instrumental part.

Where no lyrics (intro and musical parts) I think you can consider it as an arrangement between a main instrument and the others.

many thanks ALAMI, I guess it's time to learn some arabic... :)

Abdul Rahim Alsiadi is building a fantastic website with music scores from the Aleppian Wasla and others he learned in Aleppo.

Go to http://www.alsiadi.com

Click: Music Scores

Click: Aleppian Wasla or Music Scores

Most of the scores are in Sibilius and play the appropriate microtone as he learned it from his teacher, Nadim Al Darwish in Aleppo.

For any comments, you can post them on the Forum on his website.
