I think they are from Aleppo...

Yes ...Habib Abyad is a big luthier of Aleppo, he is my friend and I have an oud done by him, at present it is retired and for 10 years it has his
workshop closed .

I have a beautiful GEM by Samir Azar too. It is one of the finest instruments I have ever seen.
In terms of workmanship, it is perfect. In terms of sounds, it is magic. The more I play it, the more I fall in love with it.

Hi Damascene_Oud,
Samir lives in Homs, Syria. He builds the ouds by himself. Samir is a civil engineer, but he is a very talented luthier.
I believe that he is one of the best luthiers around.
