I recently viewed the newly released DVD from Maqam.com about Marcel Khalife.
The guy has amazing technique as far as picking goes!
Can anyone tell me what kind of Bashir Oud he plays with. I absolutely loved the sound i heard on the DVD.
Are there also various Bashir oud designs?
Who are the reputable makers for such ouds? My final question is: What is the tuning for such an instrument. I currently use EABEAD for my Turkish
oud. I doubt i can apply that to the Bashir type.
Hi Harry,
there are nay good oudmakers for this type of ouds,Yaroub Fadel,Dimitris,Fawzy, and many many others...
Some of them have and sites too...
I personally have ordered from Dimitris,I like his ouds very much...

Hi
IRAQI tuning method for Bashir Oud:-
F C D G C F (from low to high)
Munir Bashir place the Low F (single string) next to the High F ( C D G C F F) and Omar Bashir follow this method too.

Hello Mr. Zulkarnain. Wouldn't the BEADGC tuning work as well? For me, it would seem easier
because that is what I use for bass and some guitar tunings. With that tuning, I wouldn't need a capo. I'd just approach it like playing six
string fretless bass. Let me know if that isn't conventional. The thing about an instrument as old as this one is that you can do so much with
it.
