Dear Members,
I love this site and have learned a lot by visiting it almost everyday!
I am going to Istanbul for 10 days and would like to get info
on any oud related places there (such as good music stores,
places for Turkish music concerts, and if possible maybe I can pay for some lessons).
I am leaving June 28 so if you can think of anything to help me plan my trip, I would really appreciate it!

Last year, I posted my impressions and photos of a visit to istanbul here
http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=3638&pa...
Do take note of the last post in the thread. I haven't checked that other street, but it might be worth a visit.
If you search the forums for Istanbul, you'll find plenty.
Good luck ..
Hamid

My understanding is that master Haluk's workshop is not in Istanbul.
It would be interesting, though, to understand how far and/or reachable is Aydin from Istanbul.
Regards,
Hamid

Thank you, master Haluk.
Just out of curiousity, are there shops in Istanbul that sell your works?
Regards,
Hamid

My products are limited quantity, there is not a dealer shop at Istanbul.

You can often find details of classical (sanat) music concerts around the Ataturk Cultural Centre at Taksim. Concerts are held there and at the Cemal
Resit Rey Konser Salonu (15 minutes walk away at Harbiye). Often rather... institutional.
I haven't found any source of Istanbul listings that does well for small-scale performances of Turkish art music.
