I know that he plays with the syrian singer Sabah Fakhri...can anybody tell me more about him?

I would categorize him as a Syrian traditional player

Here's a brief bio from Amazon.com:

In Oud Mosaics, Amer Ammouri performs Egyptian, Iraqi, Lebanese and Syrian favourites. Amer Ammouri lives in Aleppo, Syria; he performs regularly with famous Syrian singers such as Sabah Fakhri and Shadi Jamil. He is the lead oud player for the Salatin Al Tarab, an ensemble that performs the Muwashahat and Qudud Halabiyya styles of Syrian Folklore.

I have the Eastern Strings and Takasim Oud CDs. Both are very nice. Has anyone heard the Oud Mosaics CD?

He came, along with much of the rest of the ensemble he plays with, to visit Kan Zaman's rehearsal a few months ago. I don't remember if I recorded him or not; I don't think I had my recorder with me that day, but I'll check. It was a pleasure meeting him and playing alongside with him and the rest of the ensemble he came with.

Amer Ammouri's style is what is known as: "Syrian Traditional Progressive School". The basis for this school was laid down by artists and musicians such as Sabah Fakhri, Abdulsalam Safar, Mohammed Qadri Dalal and many other Aleppian artists, who sought developing the old traditional Aleppian oud school to keep pace with the modern style. But on the other hand, their main objective was also not to ignore the tradition and heritage of the Aleppian school and its uniqueness and originality. So they combined the traditions of Aleppian oud school, and the technique of the Turkish school based on scientific approach of music and in depth studies by high scholars in this domain.
The result was truely a style that is unique to Aleppo, but unfortunately Aleppian musicians are not so active in spreading this style around.
Among those who were influenced by this "Aleppo Traditional Progressive School" are: Amer Ammouri, Mohammed Rajab, Mohammed Hassan and the oud maker Mr. Ibrahim Sukkar.
