Hello! I got my oud from turkey a few weeks ago, made by Haluk Eryadin, and I have been playing almost everyday. Thank you to all here for the free
advice and support.
Haluk made a nice sounding oud, it is very deep and projects really well. I see now when I play the oud how you have to kind of coax a good tone out
of it, sort of like a violin. Ahhh, she's a tender girl, a little romance and then she'll pour on the charm! When I played it at my
turkish band, all the turks were complimenting it, so I got an 'official' stamp of approval. The quality is really very good, certainly not
flawless, but obviously there is care built into it. I hope I can return the sentiment.
Now I just have to figure the best place to get strings & relax my arm and shoulders when plucking! I've been playing stringed instruments
for 20 years and I've never had a wrist problem before. But now with this oud, my arm is sticking way out there cause the thing is so
fat.
I'll see how it goes.
I recomend Haluk's ouds to those who are looking for a good quality turkish instrument, he was very helpful and pleasant, answered all my newbie
questions with paitence. The oud came shipped to the US with a well protected box, and very easily tracked through DHL, we watched it literally go
from one airport to another all the way through to New England.
When I get the pics scanned, I'll post them.
I tried uploading a recording, but it was taking a really long time, so I think I have to change something and try again. rock on
