I'm looking for any kind of bone to make a fingerboard for an oud, large mammal bone is needed (camel, moose, etc.).

Try a knife-makers supply. You'll be looking for scales. The largest I've found have been about 1.5"x 4"x 1/4". I've never come across a piece large
enough for a fingerboard. Sheffield Supply is one source. Google bone knife scales.

Fabulous Oudmoose. Bone as big as you want it may be a problem and the moose antler may not be cured and it will DEFINITELY smell some kind funky! It
would be better, in my opinion, to use Micarta, which is linen and epoxy resin. The oud fingerboard that Henry Besancon made for his oud out of
Micarta looked just like ivory. It's also incredibly stiff. But just the idea of a moose antler fingerboard has a kind of ring to it. Just being able
to say that you have a moose antler fingerboard is worth all the trouble, I would say. Go for it. D.L.

actually I was thinking more about femur or shoulder plate bones, the antlers are not really bone, they're darker. I also found a narwhal tooth but
it's kind of expensive like most legal ivory (walrus, musk ox, narwhal...). A good thing would be whale bone, but it's very rare and surely expensive.
Camel bone is the thing but pretty hard to find in North America.
